Hayes Clock Tower
This was an invited competition working with MARK ALU. The brief asked for a clock tower and covered public space within the public realm improvements of Hayes Town centre.
Throughout the design process we brought these two elements together in one place creating a clock tower and canopy. We created a seasonal clock by developing a planting strategy for the town centre with four trees that bloom in distinct colours across the four seasons.
We questioned what information is needed from a public clock by incorporating a barometer, and calendar. The proposed bricks were going to be created through a brick making workshop and engagement event for local people run by Shivastie Poonwassie. The rest of the proposed team included Structure Workshop as Engineers and Millimetre as fabricators.
